DAM REBUILDING GETS BIG BOOST IN FUNDRAISER KICKOFF
Additional $190,000 Raised
Delhi, Iowa. It was Standing room only Thursday night at the Delhi fire station as the newly formed Community Fund to Rebuild Lake Delhi, (CFRLD) held its fundraising kickoff celebration. Around 500 people from the community packed into the fire station as information on the fundraising plan was presented.
Funds from this event will be used to rebuild the Lake Delhi dam that washed out during the flood of last July.
“We had hoped for around 200 so we were really overwhelmed with this turnout” said Laurie Kramer, spokesperson for the group.” Nearly $200,000 was raised tonight alone”. The success of tonight brings the total raised to $585,000 towards the goal the CFRLD has of $3,500,000. Kramer concluded,” It is great to see the local people of this community stepping up to show how badly they want our public lake back”.
The Maquoketa Valley Alliance is a non-profit 501c3 organization formed to undertake private fundraising for the rebuilding of the public lake of Lake Delhi. This new organization is sponsored and administered by the Maquoketa Valley Alliance and CFGD, a highly accredited foundation in Eastern Iowa.
